Pennstar ex Walnut Hills Cracklin Patch.\u00a0 The David Blakely Classic is a companion stake to the Pennsylvania Grouse Championship.\u00a0 As a classic and with\u00a0grouse dog pros gathered with\u00a0their derby strings \u00a0from across the country,\u00a0\u00a0the Blakely Classic\u00a0is arguably the top derby competition in the east this season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After spending some time this summer with pro Dave Hughes and his assistant Ryan Frame, Jeb came on fast showing finished manners on\u00a0three finds\u00a0in winning the early-season DuBois-Beaver Meadows Open Derby.\u00a0 In late September Jeb made the trip to northern Maine with amateur Mike Spotts.\u00a0 Joe Dahl, Mike&#8217;s host,\u00a0 took Mike and Jeb to a variety of covers and Jeb pointed more than a dozen grouse and woodcock in the several days they hunted together.\u00a0 In October at the Grouse Futurity it was said that he only needed a bird to be in contention.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been a good year for birds on our training grounds and Jeb gets birds nailed in most every workout.\u00a0 He is one of the best derby birdfinders we have owned.\u00a0 It seems that Jeb continues to get stronger and harder driving\u00a0each week and at the Classic \u00a0he gave a strong effort on the ground.\u00a0 Jeb showed a penchant for being forward and coming to the front on all the turns.\u00a0 His class on the ground is\u00a0exceptional for a big dog.\u00a0\u00a0 As Jeb continues to develop into a better and better grouse dog, our hopes for his field trial career grow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Full Blast won the 34\u00a0dog\u00a0entry\u00a0David Blakely Derby Classic at Marienville, PA., November 5, 2011.\u00a0 &#8220;Jeb&#8221; is a 52 lb. son of Ch.
